Trait Stacking and Interpretation

Why One Trait Is Never Enough

A single feature has too many possible explanations to trust on its own.

What you will learn
  • Fatigue, injury or hurry can fake a trait
  • Cultural writing style shifts many features
  • Mood in the moment changes slant and baseline

A single trait might be the writer, or it might be a bad pen, a stiff hand, a long day or a tight seat.

That is why one trait, no matter how striking, is never enough to earn an interpretation.

Ask what else in the sample would agree with your reading. If nothing does, let the observation stay just an observation.
